Artist Catherine Day says she is fascinated by memories. "I have been photographing the objects left on graves for some time," she says. "They seem a still life of grief, a touchable manifestation of loss. In choosing to print these images on transparent layers of fabric, I am using qualities in the process that mirror how memory works. Many layers create a deep rich detailed image. The fewer the layers, the less defined the image is. Memory works in the same way. Fragmented, some things rich and clear, some barely there."
