The Wolverines of Western Loudoun claimed state championships for both the boys and girls on Saturday, June 6 in Alexandria. For the boys, the win completed a perfect season and for the girls, it was a second straight state title.
Several Loudoun area teams and athletes competed for state titles on the final weekend of the spring sports season, and Washington Post photographers were there to capture the emotions of an eventful weekend.

Lara Hampson was named MVP of the girls' final after scoring the only try of the game in a 12-5 win over Fairfax Police Youth Club.
