What should the team be named? Given its location, it'll be a fight between Ashburn and Sterling.
Although technically, anything west of RT.28 is Ashburn and anything East is Sterling. And it would appear the Stadium will be on the west side of the road.

How about Loudoun Locos (just kidding) but I think the team name, should we get one, should reflect the county's name and not that of a town/area.

How about NWMTPD (Not With My Taxpayer Dollars). I have lived in two communites where these were built (Colorado and Arizona) and will all the promises and tax dollars spent we got nothing but the bills. Owners did not loose money but we did. Why not go find more Raytheon's to come to Loudoun instead of sports teams or another museum? Raytheon moving in to AOL space will generate a whole bunch more money for the people of Loudoun then any sports team will and all the county had to do was give a few small 'gives'. But I understand; we cant sit in the stands and watch Raytheon employees come and go to work; no fun in that :)

Team name should be the "Blue Herons" or "Loudoun Herons". At the far end of the property is one of the largest heron rookeries (nesting areas) in the region. Developers have been great about ensuring protection for these birds.
The stadium, combined wiht a great office park should entice more Raytheons to move to the area.

Major League Soccer is oxymoronic for a sport played in the US that is incapable of scoring more than one goal in World Cup Competition. We shouldn't be encouraging soccer, we should be banning it as a sport and regulating it as a babysitting service--see american youth soccer. Save the children, support baseball.

Stadium is proposed to be built with private funding. It's a no-brainer.

Minor League Baseball stadiums are huge eye-sores. If people dont go to Nationals games, why would they go to minor league baseball. Atlantic League is barely above college.
The stadium will be surrounded by empty office buildings just like the already empty new office buildings around Loudoun.
CURB THE GROWTH.
One Loudoun is ENOUGH.

Everybody wants something they dont have, but when they get it, they are bored with it.
This is what will happen with Minor-Minor League Baseball.
Why not go watch a high school game to get your baseball fix?

Lets get both so we can TAX them into failure. Good Day, PH

Soccer is the people's sport everywhere in the world, even National Geographic did a major feature on it a few years back. Problem is the sports writers and editors don't think they should cover it, but that is no excuse. More kids play soccer every day in the US in school and on their own time year around than they do baseball or American football. Build a pro soccer stadium and price the tickets reasonably and people will come. It's time to let the boredom of baseball go in favor of something exciting -- and time for sports writers to cover soccer with more than a token nod.

amen dwooddell1! I've been driving to RFK for every single DC United game since 1996, I'd love to see that money go to Loudoun instead (assuming they can't work a deal out in DC, where they should try to stay).
Old irrelevant ignoramuses like verisimilitude would have way more fun at a United game than a boring, slow Nationals game - I guarantee it. At least the crowd cares what's happening instead of talking on the cell phone or listening to canned stadium music. As a bonus, United actually wins most of their home games :-)
I'm not "against" a minor league baseball stadium in geberal - but a) there are many of them in the area already, and b) that is a horrible location for ANYTHING that promises to bring traffic and is nowhere near the proposed new metro stops (the United stadium would be).
