Built in 1911, Middleburg Elementary is one of the smaller schools in Loudoun County. About 80 students were enrolled in 2006-2007.

“This sense of community helps in providing the best possible learning environment,” Principal Gary Wilkers said in an e-mail. He said he is proud that each student has had a parent volunteer in the classroom.

Regular events that take place at the school include an annual family movie night, science night, and a country dinner and dance. Middleburg students have the option of participating in various clubs, including running club, art club, garden club, Lego club or Odyssey of the Mind.

According to the Virginia Department of Education report card for Middleburg Elementary, 92 percent of third-graders, 83 percent of fourth-graders, and 95 percent of fifth-graders passed the English portion of the Virginia Standards of Learning exam. The district-wide goal is a 90 percent rate of passing.
