History: "The present church, erected in 1852, served as a hospital during the Civil War, particularly in the Battle of Balls Bluff.

In 1887 the 103rd session of the Baltimore Annual Conference was held here. The unification of the M.E. Church, South and the Methodist Protestant Church was consummated in 1939. The Leesburg Church was taken out of the Baltimore Conference put in the Virginia Conference.

A two-story Sunday School addition was erected in 1951 to the rear of the building, Within a year the attendance had doubled, A new educational wing was completed in 1966 at a cost of $140,000. A note-burning ceremony and dedication service was held on Sunday, April 30, following the final payment in December, 1977. The present church was remodeled in 1979 and a more extensive effort was completed during 1986. The Church has owned several parsonages during its history. The present parsonage, located in the Prospect Hills subdivision, was purchased in 1973."
