Hutchison Farm is located in the fast-growing South Riding area just south of Dulles International Airport.
The school has several extra-curricular opportunities for students, including a music program, a speed-stacking club and Odyssey of the Mind. Hutchison Farm also has a basketball clinic for fourth- and fifth-graders.
The school has a fine arts night, an ice cream social and a fall book fair. Principal Irene Ellis said Hutchison Farm has a strong PTA that helps put together many of the school’s activities.
One such activity is Hutchison Farm’s school assembly for each grade level.
The school’s scores on state assessment tests are similar to those of other Loudoun County schools. For example, about 85 percent of third-graders are proficient in reading, compared with 82 percent in the district as a whole.
Among ninth-graders, about 90 percent of students were proficient at both Hutchison Farm and in the school district.
“Our job is to make every child successful,” Ellis said.
