"At the Family Life Church, we recognize that you're not looking for pat, "religious" answers to the very real and deep needs and issues of your life. Here's the good news: that's not what we offer you. What we do offer is the chance to meet and know a very real God who has very real solutions to your life's deepest needs. Come, join us this week. Come, meet with the God who longs to meet with you."

Family Life Church of the Nazarene in Chantilly originated in 1993. Church members meet at Nova Worship Center, a building shared by two other congregations. Pastor Gary O’Shell said the church is unique in that aspect as the three parishes represent three different denominations. But the churches have set aside their differences to work together toward a common goal.

“Churches tend to be in competition with each other,” O’Shell said, “but we want to see the other churches do well and reach out to people.”

Worship services at Family Life Church of the Nazarene are held Saturday evenings. O’Shell described the services as fresh and lively with “a real sense of sharing God’s Word.” The church also places emphasis on developing a “real relationship with God” and Evangelical holiness.

The church offers several ministries for members to join, including youth groups. Targeting teenagers and young adults, the ministry takes part in summer camps, mission trips and retreats. Other groups aim to educate the “unchurched” and help the community through good works of service.

To become a member of the church, it is necessary to enroll in a membership course. The course involves accepting the Bible as a constitution as well as the church’s statement of faith and practice. Visitors are encouraged to join but not required.

Regarding Family Life’s surrounding neighborhood, O’Shell said he views his community as disconnected and in need of togetherness – a problem the church can help to solve.

“Here, they can find real relationships,” he said.
