Doukenie takes its name from the mother of winery owner Hope Bazaco who emigrated to America from Greece in 1919 and urged the family the first vineyard in 1985. Nowadays, horses, cows and corn share the land. In honor of the family's ancestry, a Taste of Greece festival pops up every May.
