The 700-acre Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve is now open to the general public between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the third Saturday and Sunday of each month. Members of the newly formed Visitor Information Volunteer Association (“VIVA”) at Banshee Reeks staff the preserve during these weekends.

Designating Banshee Reeks Park as a Nature Preserve ensures that all the plants, animals and various habitats are protected. The wildlife, rolling hills, and frontage along Goose Creek make it well worth the special trip.

VIVA is playing a critical role in efforts to open the 700-acre preserve to the general public. This unique environment, located on Woods Road south of Leesburg, has traditionally been open only to organized groups. However, with the help of committed VIVA members, visitors will be able to take in the natural beauty of the preserve’s wetlands, fields, forests, trails and wildlife habitats. VIVA members receive training in the history of the nature preserve, current and future plans, the trail system, logistics and safety.

Open on a scheduled basis for groups and to the general public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the third Saturday and Sunday of each month.
