With senior ace Cole Shain on the hill, the Broad Run Spartans were looking to bounce back from a heart-breaking 5-4 loss to Brentsville in Friday’s Region II championship game. Instead, the host Powhatan Indians jumped all over the Spartans, racing out to an 11-1 lead after two innings and never looking back, winning a weather-shortened game by a 12-6 margin. Read story »

The second game of a water-logged, rain-delayed Dulles District tournament semifinal double-header at Broad Run on Wednesday, was a hard-fought battle between Potomac Falls and Park View. After watching the Spartans get past Dominion in the first game, the Panthers and Patriots knew that a win would guarantee them a spot in the Region II tournament next week, not to mention another shot at Broad Run in the district championship game.
