Letter to the Editor: Another Side to Pepe’s

I am a 47-year-old white woman who lives in Ashburn, and I am a regular at the Mexican restaurant in Sterling. In fact, Pepe’s is one of my favorite places. Read story »

Letter to the Editor: Many Holes in Inova's Ad

I feel I must again respond to one of the ads Inova Loudoun Hospital has run in its fight against additional health care for Loudoun County. The smell emanating from these ads can no longer be masked by my can of Glade air freshener. Read story and 3 comments »

Letter to the Editor: A High-Voltage Issue

Make no mistake: There would be no underground high-voltage line in Loudoun County if it were not for the foresight, perseverance and influence of Del. Joe T. May (R-Loudoun). May got Dominion Virginia Power, the State Corporation Commission and the Virginia Assembly to approve burying a small portion — 1.8 miles — of a new 12-mile-long, 230,000-volt transmission line in western Loudoun. Letter to the Editor: Hospital Plan Is Misguided

While I thank John Stowers for his long service to Loudoun County and respect his right to his opinions, I am afraid I must disagree with the conclusions expressed in his letter in the April 27 Loudoun Extra [“Second Hospital Needed”]. Read story »

Letter to the Editor: Second Hospital Needed

I have lived and worked in Loudoun County for many years. I have watched the county triple in size and businesses slowly move here to take care of the needs of the growing population. Read story »

Letter to the Editor: HCA Deserves Support

Letter to the Editor: Time to Cork Checkpoints

Letter to the Editor: No Need For Cell Towers, Too Many Unknowns

Tomorrow at 6 p.m. is the last public meeting to voice concerns to the Board of Supervisors about plans to build cell towers in northwest Loudoun. Three of the towers would be in the Catoctin District, and two would be in the Blue Ridge District. Read story »

Marc Fisher: Putting Mentally Disabled Workers at Risk Is No Way to Cut Corners

Demolishing a building that dates back to the days of asbestos is a complicated business. You need to examine the construction method and, often, call in the men in white suits. Read story »

The Loudoun County administrator and the School Board must be living in a different world than the rest of us these days. Read story »

Letter to the Editor: On Book Ban, a Short Rhyme

Along with many other readers, I have followed with wonderment and no small amount of disbelief the story concerning the removal from elementary school libraries — and the subsequent restoration — of a children’s book about two male penguins bringing up a chick in a zoo. Read story »

Letter to the Editor: A Costly Church Town Hall

In the Feb. 24 article on the purchase or lease of a church building to replace Purcellville’s Town Hall [“Blessed With More Space,” Loudoun Extra] Mayor Robert W. Lazaro Jr. was quoted as saying, “Well, God’s everywhere, but perhaps even more so in a church.” Read story »

Letter to the Editor: A Flimsy Traffic Solution

Last year, former Dulles supervisor Stephen J. Snow instituted a Waxpool Road Task Force, consisting of government and community leaders, businesses and concerned citizens, to seek solutions to the traffic backup at Waxpool Road and Pacific Boulevard and other snarls along the corridor.
