Cat Is Left at Store
LEESBURG, Dry Mill Road, May 22. A cat was reported to have been abandoned inside a convenience store. The cat had been taken to a nearby veterinary clinic. An officer impounded the cat, which appeared to have given birth recently, and took it to the animal shelter. Reports of lost cats were checked, but no matches were found.
Protecting the Coop
WATERFORD, Old Wheatland Road, Monday. A woman reported that foxes were entering her chicken coop and killing her chickens and ducks. An officer told her about ways to make her enclosure more secure.
Baby Raccoon Is Rescued
PURCELLVILLE, Main Street, Monday. An officer responded to a report of a baby raccoon that appeared ill or injured. The approximately 5-week-old raccoon did not appear to be ill but was not able to survive on its own. The officer took the raccoon to a veterinary clinic for evaluation and rehabilitation.
Dogs Returned to Owner
STERLING, Barnswallow Court, Tuesday. Two dogs were reported to be running loose. The Labrador retriever-type dogs were wearing identification, so the owner was contacted. The dogs were returned to the owner.
Kitten Is Killed by Car
ASHBURN, Waxpool Road, Wednesday. An officer responded to a report that a kitten had been hit by a car and was in the roadway. The officer found the kitten, which was dead, and removed it.
