The youth group of Brambleton Presbyterian Church invites the public to the opening ceremony for a service project to support the fight against world hunger, to be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Brambleton Town Center amphitheater. The youths will light 1,208 candles, symbolizing the estimated 1,208 children worldwide who die every hour because of starvation. They will then fast for 30 hours while participating in service projects in the Ashburn area. Call the church at 703-542-8530 for more information about the event and to make a donation.
Middleburg United Methodist Church will serve dinner in its garden from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, with musical entertainment in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. and dessert and coffee in the garden at 8 p.m. The cost is $15, half-price for children, with proceeds benefiting the mission activities of the United Methodist Women. 15 W.
