The Dulles Greenway wants more people to get in their cars Thursday for a charity drive that will give all toll proceeds from that day to several groups: the March of Dimes; the Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter; Fresh Air/Full Care, a summer camp program; Echo Works, a job program for the disabled; Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy; and the Greenway Scholarship Program, which awards college scholarships.
The 14-mile roadway runs from Dulles Airport to Leesburg and typically collects between $200,000 and $205,000 in tolls on an average Thursday, officials said. A spokesman for the roadway said the goal is to donate $210,000 to the charities. Representatives of the charities will be at the Ashburn Bagel Shop, which is offering free coffee all day.
