Census workers in Loudoun may be outside residents' homes or walking their properties during the next few weeks.
U.S. Census Bureau employees are collecting data on all Loudoun County residences through mid-July to prepare for the 2010 U.S. Census.
The employees, who began "Address Canvassing" in April, may be seen in residential areas using hand-held devices to gather data that census-takers will use during the national canvass next year.
The address-canvassers are working to collect information on all dwellings on a given property, and they may walk onto the property to do so. While the canvassers should notify residents or owners when they enter a property, they are not required to if nobody is present.
Every Census canvasser should be wearing a U.S. Census Bureau I.D. identifying the person as an employee.
Anyone with concerns or complaints should contact the Alexandria office of the U.S. Census Bureau at 571-730-6370.
More information about the address canvassing is available on the Loudoun County sheriff's website at www.loudoun.gov/sheriff.
