Man Wanted in Stabbing Of Restaurant Worker

Loudoun County sheriff's investigators were seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect in the assault of a Sterling restaurant employee last month.

The sheriff's office released a composite sketch of the suspect.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the 150 block of Enterprise Street about midnight April 5 for a report of an assault at Tommy's Place. The victim, an employee of the restaurant, had a deep cut on his body.

Before the assault, several people had been arguing with a waitress, and the victim had asked them to leave, authorities said. The group became aggressive, and one of the subjects threw a punch at the victim, according to the sheriff's office. After a brief scuffle, the group left. A short time later, one of the subjects returned to the restaurant and stabbed the victim, who was not seriously injured.

The subjects left in a silver Toyota four-door passenger car, the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator J. Halley at 703-777-0475 or, to remain anonymous, Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. Those providing information that leads to an arrest and indictment could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Approved Fireworks List Posted on the Web

The list of approved fireworks in Loudoun County is available at www.loudoun.gov/firemarshal.

Fireworks are allowed to be sold in the county from June 1 to July 6. Retailers are required to have proper permits and are prohibited from selling any product not on the list.

According to the county fire marshal's office, an 8-year-old child was seriously injured last year after purchasing unapproved fireworks from a vendor who did not have a permit.

The fire marshal's office is encouraging residents who buy fireworks to do so at one of the many approved stands in the county. Approved stands will be listed on the Web site as they receive permits, officials said.
