The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported home invasion-style robbery that occurred in an apartment complex on the 43900 block of Harbor Hills Terrace in Lansdowne Friday night.
Around 11 p.m., the apartment’s two residents were returning home from shopping when an unknown suspect entered the apartment and brandished a possible firearm. Several more subjects then entered the apartment and forced the two victims into one of the rooms. The subjects then removed a laptop, a video game system and video game accessories.
The victims, who were not injured in the incident, contacted authorities approximately 20 to 30 minutes after the robbery occurred.
One of the suspects involved in the incident was described as a black male, 6’ to 6’2, and wearing a black shirt and jeans. During the incident, the man wore a mask with openings for the eyes and mouth.
If you have any information regarding this incident you are asked to contact Investigator J. Halley of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475. If the caller wishes to remain anonymous, they are asked to call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $100.

My empathy to the victims of this frightening crime. I'm glad they weren't injured, and i hope they'll be spared anything like this ever happening to them again.
With incidents like this happening, it would appear crime is no longer limited to the much maligned Sterling Park area. Crime in any area is as maddening as it is frightening, and it's occurring without boundaries. Regardless of our communities' reputations, let's all be cautions---not afraid, mind you---but cautious and prepared in advance to subvert possible attacks. Let's look out for each other.

Too bad they didn't have a firearm.

bradmoser - how do you know they didn't? Most folks don't regularly keep a gun on their person while at home, or even grab one when they hear a knock on the door... though sadly it's looking more and more like they should.

It sounds like this couple was ambushed. What concerns me is how perpetrators are becoming increasingly bolder in their behavior -- they seem less worried about being seen or getting caught. Is the poor economy driving this risky criminal behavior, or -- what's going on? Don't tell me it has always been this way in Loudoun because I know it has not.
