Tonight's entire slate of Washington-area high school basketball games, including the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship games, have been postponed because of the snow that blanketed the region overnight.
While Maryland public school regional quarterfinal games and the Virginia AAA Northern Region finals were cancelled once school systems closed schools, there had been some thought that the WCAC would go ahead with its tournament finals, hopeful that the snow would stop in time for roads and parking lots to be cleared.
However, Gonzaga Athletic Director Joe Reyda said that the decision was made to reschedule the games for Thursday night at American University's Bender Arena. No. 5 Good Counsel plays No. 16 Holy Cross in the girls' championship at 6 p.m., followed by No. 3 DeMatha and No. 6 Gonzaga in the boys' final at 8 p.m.
The Maryland public school tournament will resume as soon as schools resume classes.
