Loudoun County Public Schools opened one hour late today, due to adverse road conditions in the early morning.
The delay follows on the heels of Monday's closure because of the snowstorm that came through the area.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported that the snowfall total on Monday between 5:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. today in Ashburn was five inches; in Bluemont, it was three inches.

Do we want to throw more money at a school system that can't even spell their own name? Their website today announced that "Loudoun County Pubic Schools Are Closed". I thought that this was a "Public" school system.

So lets lower the grading standard so our kids can compete!

Typo ? No big deal ? Pubic Schools ? That's an interesting concept.

everyone makes mistakes.

What I find "interesting" (perplexing, obnoxious, and ridiculous) is that some are placing such a huge emphasis on a simple mistake, to the point of suggesting that this error reflects on the quality of our school system. I'll bet 1) the person who did it is mortified, and 2) they will not make this mistake again. As for the rest of us, we should remember the old saying, people who live in glass houses......

Of course everyone makes mistakes and of course it's a typo. As a parent, this one is just a tad embarrassing. The irony is that it happened on a website that also serves as the primary public relations portal for the Loudoun County School system. My sense is that these kinds of alert messages should be proofread by another set of eyes before posting.

I've seen typos on the main pages of cnn.com, washingtonpost.com, etc.
I think it's a sign of these sped-up times, that articles fly out, without proper proofing, and typos go unnoticed.
"Pubic schools" ... now that's funny

Forget about the typo, what about the terrible job VDOT did on the roads? When I was driving on Sunday around 1 p.m. there were salt trucks and snow plows sitting on the side of the road waiting for the snow. Think of all of that overtime? Expecially since the snow did not really start coming down until 4 a.m. Monday. Then they did a terrible job clearing the roads to boot.

I was very surprised that Braddock Rd in Dulles South was not clear to the pavement this morning. It is a major bus and commuter route....

I had a medical appointment at Cornwall at 9:30 a.m. Monday and it was damned near impossible to get there. Rt. 7 and Market St. in Leesburg looked like it hadn't even been touched. What happened to all those salt trucks sitting on the roadsides Sunday? Did they all put in their hours and go home? With VDOT's big salt dome in Leesburg, you would think this area would be in good shape, but it was abysmal!

ROFLOL! LoCo schools made a mistake now VDOT made a mistake! Looks like everyone is making mistakes... :-)

Momof2...Braddock Road is NOT a primary route which means it will not be cleared of snow until all primary routes are cleared. GenuineRisk...Market Street is the responsibility of the Town of Leesburg. Good luck with getting them to do anything.

OK itzazoo,
VDOT may not see Braddock Rd as a primary route, but it is used that way by the residents here. Many buses from at least 4 public schools use this road and commuters trying to avoid the parking lot on RT 50 use this road to get out to Chantilly office buildings, RT 28 S, and 66.
