Crime Blotter: Burglary, Larceny

Authorities are investigating two burglary cases in Ashburn and two cases of larceny in Sterling, according to a daily report by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Larceny: Between 11 p.m. and 11:10 p.m. Monday, someone entered a vehicle in the 22700 block of Holiday Park Drive in Sterling and removed a GPS unit.

Burglary: Between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday, someone entered an open garage in the 42700 block of Ridgeway Drive in Ashburn and removed money from a vehicle.

Burglary: Around 3:10 p.m. Monday, a resident returned home in the 20270 block of Kiawah Island Drive in Ashburn and saw two juveniles allegedly removing items from the open garage of their residence. Both people fled as they were chased by the homeowner. The incident remains under investigation.

Larceny: Around 5:46 p.m. Tuesday, someone entered a vehicle in the 20 block of Aldridge Court in Sterling and removed an MP3 player and a video game system.

Suspicious Person: Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, a resident reported seeing someone walking in the woods behind their home in the 21300 block of Glebe View Drive in Ashburn.

Recovered Stolen Auto: Between 1:52 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Haycloft Court in Sterling for a report of a possible stolen vehicle. The driver fled from the vehicle but was later found. The vehicle had been reported stolen on June 19 from the area of Hopeland Lane in Sterling. Rudi Adal Portillo-Medrano, 27, of no fixed address, was charged with grand larceny. He remains held on a $2500 bond.

Suspicious Event: Around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, someone reported hearing a door open in their home in the 17570 block of Francis Farm Place in Hamilton. A search of the home and property was conducted but nothing suspicious was found.
