A Loudoun County man was convicted yesterday in the shooting death of a 21-year-old man who was found slain on a wooded path near Middleburg last year.
Terence E. Dade, of St. Louis, who was charged with first degree murder, entered what is known as an Alford Plea in Loudoun County Circuit Court. The plea means he did not admit guilt but conceded that the prosecution has enough evidence against him for a conviction. He is due to be sentenced June 15 and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Dade, 24, asked Jajuan D. “Murphy” Johnson out to the woods to have a smoke on April 30 last year, and then waited for Johnson with a rifle and a bat, authorities said. When Johnson arrived, he killed him, shooting him 14 times and beating him, authorities said. Dade discarded the rifle in the woods in pieces, where it was later recovered, authorities said.
Dade later told investigators he was angry at Johnson over a relationship Johnson had with his girlfriend three months prior.
