The location for the scheduled public meeting to discuss the relocation of The Woods Road has been changed due to the level of interest.

On Wednesday, July 29 at 7 p.m. the public is welcome to meet representatives from the Board of Supervisors, the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services, and the Offices of the County Administrator, Solid Waste Management, and Transportation Services at the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services.

The state Solid Waste Facility permit held by the county and the conditions of approval of a Special Exception approved in 1993 require the relocation The Woods Road, which is located near the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility, the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve and easements held by the Virginia Outdoors Foundation.

The Woods Road

This meeting was originally going to be held at the Education Annex at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve. The updated location of the meeting -- the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services -- is located at 215 Depot Court NE in Leesburg.

This is an important meeting. Do we want to live in a county that chooses trash over nature? Jobs and housing are one thing but does Loudoun's only county-owned nature preserve have to take a back seat to a garbage pile? What we need is open, honest communication about what is important and an opportunity for us citizens to be involved in the decision making process. I think there are solutions that don't need to compromise what little natural area is left in the county. When do we decide "enough is enough"?

Yes, but not paving the road is not an option. It is a safety issue. There was at least one accident involving a school bus on the Woods Rd this year. I have seen several near misses involving the buses myself. It needs to be paved, and now, not it 2025!

Why can't the buses take an alternate route? And please don't yell at me in your replies - I'm simply asking a question. Do school buses have to take that road or is there an alternate route they can drive?

No, there are shelters on the road and they pick up/drop off there. Why do you assume someone is going to yell at you in response?
