Books & Crannies hosted their first annual poetry slam Friday evening in Middleburg. Local poets performed for a modest crowd, and each person had the opportunity to perform two pieces. Local authors, Ellen Crosby, Marc Leepson, Jan Neuharth, Audrey Bergner and Susan McCorkindale, judged each person's quality of work as well as their physical performance.

The winner of the evening was Becka Russell of Middleburg. She was awarded a $50 gift card to use at the bookstore.
