Leesburg Executive Airport Closes After Pilot Abandons Takeoff

Leesburg Executive Airport was closed for about an hour Sunday after a private plane ran off the runway as the pilot abandoned takeoff.

The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m., Leesburg officials said. Airport staff members helped move the plane to a safe area.

The incident is being investigated by Virginia State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration. No injury or damage was reported.

County Supervisors Reschedule July 13 Meeting, to Hold Two Sessions

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors’ regular monthly hearing July 13 has been rescheduled.

The first session will be at 1:30 p.m. July 21; the second at 5 p.m. July 28. The sessions will be in the boardroom on the first floor of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison St. SE, Leesburg.

Woodberry Road Residents Invited To Forum on Proposed Improvements

Residents of Woodberry Road in Leesburg can weigh in on proposed improvements to their neighborhood at 7 p.m. July 23.

The meeting will be at the Loudoun Baptist Temple, 412 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg.

The proposed improvements include the construction of sidewalks, curbs and gutters and an upgrade of the storm drainage system. The changes would affect a portion of Woodberry Road from Edwards Ferry Road to near North Street.

Parking at the meeting is limited; attendees are encouraged to walk.
