Letter to the Editor: Inova Shows True Colors With Its Scare Tactics

I find the advertisements and four-color mailing brochures by Inova to be appalling. With my many years of professional advertising and public relations experience, I know the value of such flashy mailers and ads. But at this point, even a child could see that the "nonprofit" Inova has spent millions upon millions of dollars in opposition to the Broadlands Regional Medical Center. Where are these millions of dollars coming from?

Since Inova has all this money available to try to stop the Broadlands project, I propose that it give up its nonprofit status and instead invest its dollars in the community.

Inova must be revealed for what it really is: a hospital association that claims to care about the community while opposing plans to provide much-needed additional medical services for Loudoun County, using scare tactics and fabrications to build a following. The only good thing resulting from its fear of competition was its launch of new medical programs that otherwise would not have come about, although they still do not approximate what the Broadlands hospital would bring to the county.

I urge sensible and responsible citizens to write and call the Board of Supervisors to show their support of the project. Tell them how the BRMC would provide important hospital services, hundreds of jobs and up to $4 million in tax revenue that could be spent on much-needed schools and infrastructure improvements in our community.

The BRMC is a win-win for Loudoun; any supervisor who is not supporting it should be held fully accountable for not doing so, if we suffer the loss of the additional medical care, revenue and jobs.
