Valentine's Day: Arts & Crafts for Kids

Valentine's Day is not only about the romance. At several Loudoun County community centers next week, kids can design valentines for siblings and parents, bake cakes or create elaborate ice cream sundaes with their friends.

For ages 6-11, the Philomont Community Center is throwing a Valentine's bash on Feb. 11 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. After school, students can take the bus from Banneker Elementary School to the community center, where they will bake a Valentine's Day cake to go with chocolaty ice cream sundaes. $15 per child.

Sweets Social

On the other side of the county, children ages three through five are invited the Lucketts Community Center for a Valentine's Day Sweets Social. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 12. While snacking on heart-shaped jam and cheese sandwiches (with moist red velvet cake for dessert) the children will be read Valentine's stories. $12 per child.

Sweetheart Craft

Does your four year-old like arts & crafts? Help them make a valentine inch worm or bear-hug card at the Dulles South Multipurpose Center in South Riding. For ages three through five, the community center is offering an instructor-guided arts and crafts sessions on Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $8 per child.

I Heart You

Parents, join your children to create beautiful crafts at the Douglass Community Center,. Ages two and three are invited Feb. 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. to work on their valentine's with the help of an instructor. Cost is $2 per child, plus the cost of their supplies.
