Officer Checks on Horses

LEESBURG, Tutt Lane, Jan. 23. Some horses were reported to be in poor condition. An animal control officer met with the owner and found that the horses were in excellent condition and had adequate food, water and shelter. No violations were found.

Dogs Uninjured in Car Accident

LEESBURG, S. King St., Jan. 23. An officer responded to a report of a vehicle accident in which a car had two dogs inside. The owner was being taken to the hospital, so the officer took custody of the dogs. They appeared to be uninjured and were taken to the animal shelter, where they will be held until the owner can claim them.

Spaniel on the Loose

ASHBURN, Field Station Terr., Jan. 24. A cocker spaniel that had been running loose was confined. An officer saw that the approximately 4-year-old dog had been groomed recently but was not wearing identification. The officer took it to the animal shelter. A short time later, the owner filed a lost report, was notified that the dog had been found and reclaimed it.

Dog, Owner Are Reunited

CHANTILLY, Gum Springs Rd., Jan. 25. A stray dog was confined at the Arcola Fire Station. An officer found that the dog was wearing a rabies vaccination tag but had no identification. The owner was located through the vet office that issued the tag, and was told that the dog was at the shelter.

Buzzard Is Euthanized

ROUND HILL, Jackson Ave., Wednesday. An officer responded to a report of an injured and bleeding turkey buzzard. The officer found the bird to be in grave condition. It was taken to the animal shelter, where it was euthanized.
