Injured Kitten Is Treated

LOVETTSVILLE, S. Loudoun St., Aug. 7. An animal control officer responded to a report of a kitten that appeared to have a crushed paw. The officer took the kitten to a veterinary hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Lost Labrador’s Owner Is Found

LEESBURG, Market St., Aug. 9. A black Labrador retriever that had been running loose was confined at a shopping center. The dog had a rabies vaccination tag, but an animal control officer was unable to trace the owner because the veterinary office was closed. The dog was taken to the animal shelter. The vet was contacted the next day, and the owner reclaimed the dog.

Aggressive Fox Charges Officer

CHANTILLY, Pleasant Woods Ct., Aug. 10. Someone was reported to have been bitten by a fox. An animal control officer found the fox, which acted aggressively and charged the officer. The animal was confined and taken to the animal shelter, where it was euthanized for rabies testing.

Officer Checks on Dog’s Welfare

STERLING, Whaley Ct., Aug. 10. An animal control officer responded to a report of a dog that had been left outdoors without water. The officer met with the dog’s owner, who said that she did leave the dog outdoors at times but that water was always available. The officer viewed the dog’s outdoor area, which was fenced and included shelter and water. The owner said the dog sometimes knocks over its bowl, so the officer provided tips on sturdier containers. No violations were found.

Lost Beagle Taken to Shelter

LEESBURG, Sunset Course Terr., Aug. 12. A beagle was reported to be running loose near a school. An animal control officer found a male dog that was wearing a collar but had no identification. The dog was taken to the animal shelter. Lost-dog reports were checked; no match was found.
