The Loudoun Sheriff’s Office is alerting local businesses to be aware of shoppers using traveler’s checks to fraudulently obtain cash.

In an incident on Saturday a female suspect allegedly used counterfeit traveler’s checks in $100.00 denominations to purchase small items at Macy’s in the Dulles Town Center. The suspect then received the remaining balance in cash.

Members of the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office at the Dulles Town Center were alerted to the situation and apprehended the female and two male suspects. The three were found in possession of $8000 in counterfeit traveler’s checks.
