A single vehicle crash that occurred last week near the Loudoun County-Prince William County line has taken the life of a 28-year-old Leesburg man, the Loudoun Sheriff's Office reported this afternoon.
James M. Powell, Jr., was traveling south on Gum Spring Road near Mayhew Lane around 8 a.m. on August 4th when the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was wearing his seatbelt and the vehicle’s airbags deployed.

Powell was initially taken to Prince William County Hospital but was later airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Powell succumbed to his injuries on the evening of August 10th.
