UPDATE: Sexual Assault Reported in Chantilly

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred Friday evening in the area of Chantilly, Va.

The 32-year-old female victim from Fairfax County told authorities that around 6:30 p.m. she was going to a residence in the 25600 block of Gum Spring Road when she was approached by two men. One of the suspects held her while a second suspect sexually assaulted her.

Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputies were notified of the incident around 9:35 p.m. Friday after the victim drove herself to Reston Hospital where she was treated. More details will be released as they become available.

The victim is working with authorities to create a sketch of the suspects but has had problems remembering specifics of the men, according to Loudoun County Media Information Officer Kraig Troxell.

"The victim thinks she may have lost consciousness during the assault," Troxell said. "She doesn't really have a good description of the suspects at this point, or at least something we're comfortable releasing at this point."

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Investigator K. Leigh of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475. If the caller wishes to remain anonymous they are asked to contact Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information provided leads to an arrest and indictment the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.

So the suspects were men ... OK, let's gather up every available resource on the force on hunt these guys down; leave no stone un-turned ... With detailed descriptions like this, those two don't stand a chance.

OTH: I know, right? I saw two men yesterday afternoon. In retrospect, I suppose I should have reported them for this crime.

At least one news program reported on this last night. They said that the LCSO is working on a sketch, but no information was available regarding the appearance of the men. Don't quite understand why they couldn't release something.

Did it occur to you that because the victim could offer such little information that the LCSO is reaching out to the public in hopes that maybe someone in the area that night noticed something - didn't think anything of it at the time, but now knowing a crime was committed, it's something worth sharing? Or maybe the rapists bragged about it and someone else overheard it.

Yes. Also, if the victim is having trouble with the description, it wouldn't be helpful to put one out that is not accurate. I think we all remember looking for a completely wrong vehicle in the infamous sniper case.
