Authorities are investigating an assault on a woman that took place Monday in Sterling, according to a daily report by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
Missile at a Vehicle: Around 10:15 p.m. Sunday, someone discharged a pellet gun at a vehicle in the area of Algonkian Parkway and Rutherford Circle in Sterling. There was no damage to the vehicle and no one was injured.
Destruction of Property: Between 4 p.m. Friday and 9:15 a.m. Monday, someone damaged seven street lights in a commercial parking lot in the 45750 block of Nokes Boulevard in Sterling.
Assault: Between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday, a 20-year-old woman from California was assaulted by someone in the 21600 block of North Sterling Boulevard in Sterling. The woman was selling magazines in the area when she was approached by the person. The victim received medical treatment at the scene of the assault and was then taken to INOVA Loudoun Hospital for further treatment.

Weapons Violation: Around 11:15 p.m. Monday, a resident in the 19550 block of Bent Tree Terrace in Leesburg was cleaning their firearm when it discharged. A buckshot was discovered to have entered the wall of the apartment and exited into an adjacent apartment. No one was injured. Joshua M. Kott was charged with reckless handling of a firearm. He is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
Destruction of Property: Around 3:55 a.m. Tuesday, road signs near Loyalty Road and Old Waterford Road in Waterford were damaged and removed. Signs included street signs and stop signs. The Virginia Department of Transportation was notified to issue portable stop signs at intersections.
