A Leesburg man apparently killed himself after fatally injuring his wife yesterday in their townhouse, according to a source familiar with the investigation.
Leesburg police said they got a 911 call about 4:45 a.m. from a man in the 800 block of Smartts Lane NE in the Potomac Crossing area. They found the body of Inam A. Uddin, 47, in an upstairs bedroom, along with his wife, Nusrat Uddin, 36, who was seriously injured. She was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she died, police said.
Police said they are investigating the deaths as suspicious, and they are not seeking suspects. They would not discuss the nature of the couple's injuries or causes of death, pending autopsy results, and said the investigation is continuing.
A source familiar with the case, who asked not to be named because the investigation is open, labeled it a "likely murder-suicide."
A note, probably left by Inam Uddin, was found on the front door of the house saying to call police, said Lt. Wes Thompson, a police spokesman. Thompson called the incident an apparent domestic dispute but said a motive was unclear.

Authorities said the couple had three children, ages 5, 12 and 14, who were home at the time but not involved in the incident. The children have been placed with relatives, police said.
"Our hearts go out to the children, and hopefully the family network and support system they have will help them get through this," Thompson said. "It's very traumatic . . . now their lives are turned upside down."
Police and neighbors said that the woman was apparently running a day-care business out of her home but that no other children were inside at the time of the incident.
Next-door neighbor Josh Ashby, 24, said he was shocked by the news, since he did not know the Uddins to argue. He said he did not hear a commotion before police arrived.
Neighbor Shirley Villarroel, 32, said she was scared to learn of violence nearby, so soon after an attack on a couple out for a walk in Lansdowne last month that left a man dead and his wife seriously injured. When Villarroel learned that this was apparently a domestic dispute, much of her fear subsided, she said.
"I'm sorry for them," Villarroel said. "I know they have children."

dpwoom, that was horrible! I admit I giggled though.
Thankfully the children were not hurt like so many other recent cases.

Gee, if they hadn't had a gun in the house to "protect themselves" then the husband would have slapped his wife around and been done with it. Now they are both dead. So much for "protection".

Where in this article does it mention a gun being involved?

Genuine Risk - "the husband would have slapped his wife around and been done with it." And you think that's somehow better?? Why should he get to slap her around at all?

Loudoun County, along with Prince William, are becoming the Prince George's County of Virginia. Has the murder capital of VA moved north?

This is a very sad situation; there are now three young children who have suddenly lost both their Mother AND their Father. Did one or more of them witness the deaths? Who found the parents and called the police? Most likely it was one of the kids...how horrible for them.

Most of the comments made by you idiots are stupid and insensitive. What if the children of these parents read this garbage! Shame on you. Get lives and respond to things like this appropriatley and stop letting crap fall out of your mouths. Have some compassion and stop blogging about serious issues....go to Paris Hilton's blog and dish there....it sounds like that's more your arena.

I am in tremendous shock since my wife told me last night about this incident. Inam Baig and Nusrat Baig was a couple we knew since last fifteen years. Always smiling and willing to help others, they were part of a very close knit family hailing from a culture where family members take care of one another. What went wrong is anybody's guess, but they never appeared to have any financial or social problems.
Such cases are becoming more and more prevalent in this country where people are tremendously suffering due to unemployment, foreclosures, and other financial setbacks. I call upon all of you to pray for the family and friends and be united against the current financial crisis. Help one another and be caring. Know your neighbors and extend help to them when needed.

The censoreship on Loudoun Extra's blogs is ludicrous; totally milk-toast comments get deleted. I've seen vile racist quotes on WaPo article comments and (now defunct) Yahoo blogs that would make your hair stand on end ...

God help these children through this. Every week this is happening. The Parente family is being laid to rest this week (that was four people/the entire family) Satan is taking over people's minds. The Lord will not put more on you than you can stand. People must not have a strong foundation built in Christ. I know there are many unbelievers but what in this world could be putting into the minds of (men) especially to take out their families like this. Think about it.... every week for months now this has been occurring. If I lost my house or job my kids would be placed into the homes of other family members or shifted around however, that is no reason to kill myself or anybody else. IF that was the case I would have committed suicide years ago because I been broke and struggling for the last 15 - 20 years. For crying out loud. Pray, and the people who get on her and say dumb stuff you aren't in control of anything you better watch what comes out your mouth next week it could be a family you know. PEACE OUT.

mortified469... It's probably people like you that I see on the news crying about this not happening in "my neighborhood". I'm pretty sure it happens everywhere. It's just that the media, people not of the affected neighborhood, and other people become desensitized to the violence that's taking place.
The story is sad either way you look. I don't care who is involved and how the person is, anytime a person is so desperate that the only way they see out of a situation is to turn to violence that is a sad situation.

It is really sad (the econonomy) and no doubt about it, it will get worse. Just pray and ask God to be a fence, because he is the only one that can save us from this mess.

It is very sad nowadays people get a chuckle out of other suffering. I hope to GOD that these little kids get a safe and loving environment where they can live a better life.

I think people should stop talking about this subject and leave the family alone. I understand the frustration and curiosity. I also know that woman is not a man's slave; she is his equal. In order that the family union is a peaceful and Islamic one, the man's authority is not based on tyranny or fear, but love and mercy, as the Holy Qur'an says: "And made him her spouse, so that he may rest in her."
There is one Muslims saying: “Whoever covers up the fault of a Muslim, Allah will cover up his fault(s) on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever exposes the fault of a Muslim, Allaah will expose his faults.” [Ibn Maajah] This is because such acts spread evil within the community.
My humble request to the families out there that after a hard day's toil and labor, a man wants to come home to a cheerful wife who fills his home and life with peace and happiness; not to a house filled with hatred, bickering and nagging. So be nice to each other, try to seek a counselor if you need to prevent yourself from this kind of accidents. If there is a family which has its foundations on hatred, tyranny and fear, the family would come crashing down, but in an Godly family, peace, tranquility and love prevail.
