Learn the art of cooking soft-shell crabs and other spring dishes at Magnolias at the Mill's cooking demo Saturday afternoon. At Breaux Vineyards, sample the rare Nebbiolo wine, or enjoy the Loudoun Chorale's rendition of "Ein deutsches Requieum" by Brahms Saturday evening at St. David's Episcopal Church in Ashburn.
Magnolias Cooking Demonstration
A cooking demo at Magnolias in Purcellville will be led by Chef Mark Marrocco Saturday from noon till 3 p.m.
Marrocco plans to prepare a three-course meal consisting of an appetizer, entrée and dessert. After each course is demonstrated, the group will sample the dish and enjoy a glass of wine before progressing to the next course.
Marrocco will begin with a jumbo asparagus appetizer, prepared over a red and yellow beat Carpaccio and served with shaved Manchego cheese.
A cornmeal crusted pan-searched soft-shell crab with pickled-green tomatoes will serve as the entrée, and for dessert, spring strawberries over shortbread cookies with a Grand Marnier sauce.
Reservations are $45 per person, and tickets may be purchased online.
Breaux Vineyards Nebbiolo Vertical Tasting
This Saturday, Breaux winemaker Dave Collins will engage visitors in a 90-minute discussion on the growing seasons of several vintage wines, and the origins of their grapes.
During the discussion, Breaux will provide tastings of its Nebbiolo vintages. Nebbiolo is offered once a year, and will be paired with a gourmet lunch. Guests can also sample the Italians wines Barolo and Barbaresco.

Loudoun Chorale presents Brahms "Ein deutsches Requieum"
The Loudoun Chorale presents "Ein deutsches Requiem" by Johannes Brahms Saturday evening at St. David's Episcopal Church in Ashburn. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m., and include several Passion chorales by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Dessert and hors d'oeuvres will follow the concert, along with an opportunity to meet the Chorale.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children ages 12 to 18. St. David's Episcopal Church is located at 43600 Russell Branch Parkway, Ashburn, VA.

The pan-searched crap that will be part of the cooking demo at Magn olias sounds interesting. I'm not sure I like my crap that way.

I guess I needed a good laugh - although the image is disgusting, this typo(?) hit my funny bone.
Is the author telling us that she doesn't like crab?
