Purcellville Plans Sessions on Water Study
Purcellville residents can learn more about the town's ongoing water resources study at one of three information sessions Saturday.
The one-hour sessions are from noon to 1 p.m., 1 to 2 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. at Purcellville Town Hall, 130 E. Main St. The presentations will include posters, maps, handouts and remarks by project staff members on the study and the town's options for additional water supplies.
River Trail Named For Conservationist
An eight-mile swath of the Potomac National Heritage Scenic Trail has been named for conservationist Ira Gabrielson.
The Gabrielson Trail runs along the Potomac River at Algonkian Regional Park in Sterling and ends at Riverbend Park in Fairfax County. A dedication ceremony held at the Sterling park Saturday was attended by state, regional and local officials.
A former chairman of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, Gabrielson played a key role in creating the agency in the 1950s.
