Thirteen residents of Countryside were displaced from their homes Sunday evening, after a fire that started in one home spread to three more on McPherson Circle, according to Loudoun County Fire-Rescue Services. No one was injured in the fire.
The Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 8:31 p.m. about a house fire at 22 McPherson Circle. A neighbor, who had noticed that the back of house was on fire, alerted the residents, and they safely evacuated.
Emergency personnel from Sterling, Ashburn, Moorefield, Leesburg, Fairfax County and Dulles Airport responded to the fire. The first arriving crews encountered a fire that was spreading quickly in 22 McPherson Circle and causing radiant heat and damage to adjacent homes, initiating a second alarm.
Three additional homes incurred substantial damage due to a combustible exterior siding. It took crews approximately one hour to fully extinguish the fire as a defensive attack was deployed.
The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire and has assessed the damages to be $590,000.
