Tracking hackers, building robots and analyzing DNA were several activities explored during the third annual Science, Technology and Engineering Day at George Washington University's Ashburn Campus Wednesday afternoon.

Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., 112 Loudoun County High School students participated in the 10 interactive workshops aimed at highlighting careers in engineering, science and technology.

The workshops were led by GWU students and faculty members, and included Pharmacogenomics, When the Earth Moves: Designing Resistance to Earthquakes, Supercomputers: From Sony Playstation 3 to Earth Simulators and Wireless Wonders.

In these sessions, students learned how medication is tailored to the specific needs of an individual, how to experience effects of an earthquake using a shake table, the technology behind parallel image processing and how to understand the interworking of wireless devices.
