Ashburn Man Charged With Murder

An Ashburn man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Loudoun County officials said today.

The suspect, David E. Cavalieri, 40, called 911 around 10 a.m. yesterday to report that he had stabbed himself at his condominium on Timber Ridge Terrace, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.

When emergency responders arrived, they found an injured Cavalieri, and a search of the condo revealed a deceased woman in the bedroom whose body was “obstructed,” apparently in an attempt to hide it, Troxell said.

He said authorities obtained a search warrant and confirmed that the woman was Cavalieri’s 37-year-old girlfriend, though the cause of death has not been released pending an autopsy. Her name is being withheld while her family is notified, Troxell said.

Cavalieri was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was treated and released yesterday. Late last night, he was charged with first-degree murder.

“He was cooperative with investigators,” Troxell said.

The tax increase was to much to bare.

funnyguy, I know you've said you want to keep the tax rate in front of people, but try for some perspective please.

Right here, I just don't think that's funny.

Who knows why or how this happened? They may never get all the answers, and it's somebody's sister, daughter, son, brother, a life gone.

Bad taste to drum it here, in my opinion.

unfunnyguy is really a jerk, way to spank him, BM !

This girl was my friend and loved by many. Please do not disrespect her by bantering back and forth. God bless her and may her murderer rot where those like him should.

Glad he was charged with first degree murder. Nice try on attempting to injure yourself, d*ck

Hope this girl gets justice by a full conviction

Anyone know what happened to the little dog they used to have. I'm a neighbor and they had a little white dog I think.

Posted by TheUnwanted (anonymous) on April 16, 2009 at 12:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The dog was being held by animal control and a shelter I believe. My boyfriend and I called to inquire what was going to happen to him and they said that he was being held for now and not released. This was yesterday evening. We are also a neighbor of theirs and it is just terrible that it happened to someone so nice.

pammegel, please accept my apology and my sympathy.

It was sincerely NOT my intent to banter about something so serious and so sad.

Thanks white2mm. This is just terrible. She seemed so nice. I didn't know her personally. I walk my dog by there everyday and I remembered when they got the puppy. I hope it will be okay.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of this young woman. I hope the suspect will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

The most tragic of all this is that she had a young son. And now he will grow up not knowing his mother because of this disgusting violence.

Posted by ckaystevens (anonymous) on April 16, 2009 at 2:17 p.m. (Suggest removal)

She actually has two other older sons as well that she wasn't able to visit often. I'm so glad that you all had such pleasant memories of our friend just from your short period of time knowing her and thanks for your concern about the dog. She didn't have a mean bone in her body. God bless you all. Those of us who knew her intend to make sure justice is done.

Just FYI - It was not the little white dog. They had a bigger dog. The people with the little white dog are just fine.

I guess you didn't know here all that well, she wasn't that nice, but she didn't deserve this, she hadn't seen her 2 kids in 5 years, and lost custdy of her youngest son. She was a troubled woman, and I hope this man pays.

I find it perhaps a little sad that I live in the next building over and never knew them. I don't actually know any of my neighbors except saying the occasional hello to the 90-ish year old lady who lives next door to me. I grew up in the country and knew nearly all of my neighbors as a child, but I've never really known any neighbors since I moved to northern Virginia. What a tragedy that this could occur at all, and that our community network of support is so thin these days.

kauket,

I know what you mean. NoVA is definitely not a very friendly place. Too many transients, too many people.

I'll miss knowing you are out there 'somewhere' in the world - we did not ALWAYS have the best of times, but we had quite a few 'best of times'. Life is troubled and precarious for some - you can sit back and judge, or have a little EMPATHY for someone who finds life a struggle. She did not deserve this - it makes me physically ill how easy the people she loved most took advantage of her because she was TOO nice and accommodating - but I would certainly hope that any others who 'barely knew her' would have enough tact not to pronounce their judgement on her now in this forum - how inappropriate and catty. Shame on you. Sorry to burst your bubble - but it's not your place.

Apparently today, 4/16/09, as this Mr. Cavalieri sits in jail, the jail has a board where they have terms they refer to and this guy is "wack & hack" I presume because of the way this poor woman was murdered. Such a shame and I hope justice is served!!

Who are you people and what hole did you crawl out of? To pass judgment makes you as guilty as he. You know nothing but heresay and will spill it in a public forum. How disgusting. May you rot in hell with David for your slander.

I don't see how anything she could have done in life would give this guy any right to kill her. I also don't see how it is anyone's business at this point what her sex life or relationships were like before death. I never met her but she's a person and deserves respect because of that and please show some respect as she has friends on this forum. I mean, speculating at this point is just rude.

I sincerely hope the comment posted by 'lltsktrr' regarding "whack and hack" is not true. I also do not appreciate ANYONE saying ANYTHING bad about her!!! Who the hell are you?? What's wrong with you?? She has a family?! She is a human being?! She was a wonderful, fun, passionate person... full of life and her friends and loved ones miss her tremendously.

Thank you cdizestone and pammegel. She was a wonderful, fun, passionate person who loved her sons dearly. I am her cousin and we, the family, are devestated. She was one of the kindest individuals you could ever know.

Hello PSulli-we know. We were good friends of hers. I personally have known her for 18 years through all the good and bad and you had to love her. We mourn with your family.

My deepest condolences to the kids that are faced with this undeserved tragedy. Why was she with that loser psycho in the first place? If she lived with him, didn't she catch the drift that he may be a few sandwiches short of a picnic basket? Murder then stash the body for weeks?!? Insane.

Hey funnyguyva... have you ever lost a loved one? Shut up. You are a blog geek that has no life. All of her friends and family are still dealing with her death. This wasn't cancer or a car accident, it was MURDER. Who is prepared for that?! I'd paid 10x the taxes to have my loved ones living. As well as 10x the taxes to put to death the bad seeds that kill my loved ones.

I think BarbaraMunsey put it perfectly. She was a friend, a daughter, a sister, a mother... a life gone. That gives me goosebumps and makes me sad. I hope he rots in hell. She was taken too soon. I saw her son at her funeral as well as the look in her mother's eyes... and I take that vision home every night. I will never suffer like they will. So very sad. I wish I could help them with their pain. All we can do is support causes for domestic violence.
