Runaway Sheepdog Picked Up

LEESBURG, Radford Terr., Monday. Responding to a report, an animal control officer found a female Shetland sheepdog that had been seen running loose. The dog was wearing identification. No one was at the owners’ home, so the dog was brought to the animal shelter. The owners were notified and they reclaimed the dog later in the day.

Dog and Cat Rescued From Fire

LEESBURG, Old Waterford Rd., Tuesday. An officer responded to a request from Loudoun County’s Fire and Rescue Department for assistance with pets at a house fire. A dog and a cat had been rescued from the home; they did not have visible injuries. The cat was kept at a veterinary hospital overnight for observation, and the dog was released to the animal shelter. The owner was notified.

Cow Coaxed Off Road

ALDIE, James Monroe Hwy., Wednesday. A cow was reported to be in the roadway. An officer got the cow back to its field. The officer contacted the owner, who arrived to repair the fence where the cow had gotten loose.

Ailing Skunk Is Euthanized

PURCELLVILLE, Allder School Rd., Wednesday. A skunk was reported to be walking in circles and falling down. An officer found the skunk and took it to the animal shelter, where it was euthanized because of its condition.

No Claims for Shepherd

LEESBURG, Adams Dr., Wednesday. Responding to a report, an officer found an approximately 8-year-old female German shepherd that had been running loose. The dog had a collar but no identification. It was taken to the animal shelter. Missing reports were checked; no match was found.
