Squirrel Found in House
STERLING, Simeon Lane, Sept. 20. An animal control officer responded to a report of a squirrel in the living room of a home. The officer was able to confine the squirrel, which appeared healthy and uninjured. The squirrel was returned to the wild nearby.
Some Fish Left Behind
LEESBURG, Evans Ridge Terrace, Sept. 20. An officer responded to a report that several fish had been abandoned in an apartment after an eviction. The officer was escorted to the apartment by the property manager. Inside they found approximately 15 fish in a tank. The fish were transported to the Animal Shelter.
Dog Gets Escort Home
LEESBURG, Nansemond Street, Sept. 20. A black dog was reported to be running loose. An officer was able to locate and confine the dog, which was wearing identification. The officer returned the dog to its home.
Kittens Are Elusive
STERLING, Giles Place, Sept. 21. Someone reported that a mother cat with kittens was under the deck of a home and that one kitten appeared unable to use its back legs. An officer spotted the kittens but was unable to reach them. The officer set a trap to try to capture them. The trap was checked over several days, but the kittens were not caught. The mother appeared to have removed them from the area.
No ID on Stray Dog
STERLING, Lake Drive, Tuesday. A small dog was found running loose and was confined. An officer found that the approximately 5-month-old female miniature pinscher was wearing a collar but no identification. The dog was transported to the Animal Shelter. Lost reports were checked and no matches were found.
