The Loudoun County School Board voted unanimously last night to postpone setting the attendance boundaries of Leesburg's soon-to-be-built Tuscarora High School.
Board vice-chairman Tom Reed (At Large) brought the motion to put off the boundary decision because of ongoing uncertainty about when Woodgrove High School might be built.
"I was hoping for closure on September 12," said Reed. That was the day of the Virginia Supreme Court's decision on whether the county or the town of Purcellville has control of the school's location.

The decision handed the authority to the county, but other litigation remains and the town has also decided to ask the Supreme Court for a rehearing, which could add months to the process.
Loudoun County Public Schools officials are still hopeful that Woodgrove High could be ready for the 2010-11 school year.

Does anyone know why the School Board delayed the decision on boundaries?

luvlsbg,
I believe the rationale is that the boundaries of Tuscarora would likely be impacted by the opening of Woodgrove, whose boundaries have already been determined. While Woodgrove's timing remains uncertain, trying to set boundaries for Tuscarora wouldn't make a lot of sense because those boundaries may overlap the areas that would otherwise go to Woodgrove.

I see the Boards delay to set the Tuscarora boundaries as an attempt to permanently send western kids there. Assuming Tuscarora is built before Woodgrove (which appears even more likely today because the County won't compromise at all and insists on building their own sewer plant at the site),the school board could always send kids to Tuscarora as temporary overflow. Who knows what the politicians have in store for our children and what their motivations are.
