Supervisors Plan Meeting On Violence in Sterling
Four members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will hold a community meeting Tuesday to discuss the recent rash of violent crimes in the Sterling area.
Board Chairman Scott K. York and Supervisors Susan Buckley (D-Sugarland Run), Andrea McGimsey (D-Potomac) and Eugene Delgaudio (R-Sterling) will hold the meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Park View High School auditorium. Loudoun County Sheriff Steve Simpson attend.

Hiking Trail Closed During Landfill Project
The Evergreen Mills equestrian and hiking trail, 21332 The Woods Rd., Leesburg, is closed until further notice because of the expansion of the Loudoun County landfill. Parts of the trail are adjacent to the landfill.

Session Will Offer Advice to Former Inmates
Loudoun County is holding an information session for recently released adult offenders who are transitioning back into the community.
The county's Re-Entry Advisory Committee will host the free one-hour session at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Leesburg police department, 65 Plaza St. NE, Leesburg. Spouses and other immediate family members of those who have been released or will soon be released are invited.

Candidates Sought for Investment Panel
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors is seeking a resident representative to serve on a committee being formed to help manage investments for the county's retirement benefit plan, which covers county government and public school employees.
Candidates with proven integrity, business ability and demonstrated experience in cash management and investments are encouraged to apply.

Library Seeks Nominees for History Awards
The Thomas Balch Library Advisory Commission is seeking nominations for the 16th annual Loudoun History Awards.
The event honors individuals who have made a significant contribution to preserving Loudoun's past through the collection of county documents and memorabilia, preservation of historic landmarks, visual arts, writing or long-term involvement in local history organizations.
Letters of nomination should be sent to Alexandra S. Gressitt, library director, Thomas Balch Library, 208 W. Market St., Leesburg, Va. 20176. The deadline is Oct. 6.
The awards ceremony will be at the library at 2 p.m. Nov. 9. For information, call 703-737-7195.
