A flash flood watch is in effect for Loudoun County and other areas of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region, starting at noon today and going until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region today in advance of a cold front. Flash flooding could occur in the small creeks and streams in the area, as water levels are already high from the recent rainfall from Tropical Storm Hanna.
