County Surplus Store Open This Weekend

The Loudoun County Surplus Store will be open on the weekend for the last time this year from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 14 Cardinal Park Dr., Suite 106 in Leesburg.

The store is usually open on the first, second and third Friday of the month and the last Saturday of the month. However, it will not be open on the last Saturday in November or December because of the holidays.

The store is selling items including basketball hoops, children's toys and office furniture. To view sale items, visit www.loudoun.gov/surplus.

Sheriff Provides Tips on Crime Prevention

As part of National Crime Prevention Month, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is urging county residents to stay informed about crime-related issues within their communities.

County residents can access local crime data at www.loudoun.gov/crimereports or through the Loudoun Sheriff's Office Web site at www.loudoun.gov/sheriff.

The agency also encourages residents to sign up for sheriff's office notifications through the Alert Loudoun system available at the county government Web site, www.loudoun.gov. The alert system is free and can send information to e-mail addresses, cellphones and pagers that receive text messages.

Virginia Supreme Court Offers New Web Site

The Virginia Supreme Court has launched a Web site that helps users learn how to properly file and complete a family abuse and protection order through Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

The site can be accessed at www.courts.state.va.us or through the Loudoun County Web site at www.loudoun.gov/i-can. The site includes information about Loudoun's court practices and policies.

The Web site was developed by the Legal Aid Society of Southern California and adapted for use by the Virginia Supreme Court.
