Informational Meeting on Sheriff Substation

A public information session on the western Loudoun County sheriff’s substation project will take place at 7 p.m. June 12 at Round Hill Elementary School, 17115 Evening Star Dr.

The proposed substation, on Route 7 near Simpsons Creek Road, would provide patrol, crime prevention and other law enforcement services. Sheriff’s officials said it would mean fewer trips by deputies to headquarters in Leesburg and an expansion of the sheriff’s community policing program.

The sheriff’s office opened its first county-owned substation last summer in South Riding. Substations also are planned in Brambleton and Sterling.

County Tourism Videos to Debut at Tally Ho

A series of tourism videos produced by the Loudoun County Convention and Visitors Association will be shown at the Tally Ho Theatre in Leesburg from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The 36 short videos were designed to highlight tourist attractions, including wineries, heritage sites, restaurants and historic towns. The videos include commentary by county residents and tourists and music by local musicians. They will be posted on the county’s tourism Web site, www.visitloudoun.org, at www.youtube.com and on the digital media player application iTunes, county staff members said.

The showing at the Tally Ho is free. Those planning to attend should call 703-771-2170, Ext. 20, or e-mail sexton@visitloudoun.org by Monday.
