Untagged Lab Puppy Is Found
HAMILTON, Digges Valley Road, Monday. An Animal Control officer responded to a report of a dog that was by the side of the road and had been in the same area all day. The officer found the approximately 10-month-old black Labrador mix, which was not wearing identification or microchipped. The dog was transported to the animal shelter. Lost reports were checked, and no matches were found.
Groundhog Sighting Is Reported
LEESBURG, Larch Valley Court, Tuesday. A woman reported that her dogs had attacked a groundhog and injured it. She said the groundhog had crawled under a neighbor’s porch. An officer was unable to locate it, so a trap was set.
Shih Tzu Owner Is Warned
LEESBURG, Washington Street, Tuesday. An officer responded to a complaint that a Shih Tzu was allowed to roam the neighborhood. The officer met with the owner and explained the laws regarding running at large. A warning was issued.
Bat Caught at Home, Released
PURCELLVILLE, Main Street, Wednesday. Animal Control received a report of a bat inside a home. An officer was able to locate and confine the bat. It appeared healthy and had not had contact with the residents, so it was released to the nearby wild.
Bulldog at Church Is Taken Home
LEESBURG, Cornwall Street, Thursday. A bulldog was found running loose in the parking lot of a church. An officer confined the animal and identified the owner. The dog was returned home.
