Heavy rain soaked Loudoun County overnight, bringing more than two inches of rain to parts of the county.
Dulles International Airport recorded 2.17 inches of rain from 10 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. today. Most of that rain fell during a two-hour span from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Heavy downpours prompted forecasters to issue a flash flood warning at 1:12 a.m. for parts of eastern Loudoun. The National Weather Service office in Sterling said flash flooding was reported in the Arcola area.
Several roads in southern Loudoun, including Braddock Road, Route 50 and Gum Spring Road, were closed at about 1 a.m. as a result of high water. Emergency officials reported a partial road collapse on Braddock Road, according to weather service reports.

Possible tornadoes were reported in Stafford and Prince William counties.
Occasional showers are possible today, although the heaviest rain has since moved well east of Loudoun. No weather watches or warnings were posted for Loudoun, although flood warnings still were in effect late this morning for parts of Northern Virginia.
The mercury today is expected to reach 63 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain. Rain is possible again both days this weekend.
The average high on today's date at Dulles International Airport is 73 degrees, according to weather service records.
