The roles were reversed, but the result was the same for Loudoun Valley sluggers Logan Tretick and Ashleigh Miller.

A day after hitting home runs in a key Virginia AAA Cedar Run District victory, Tretick and Miller both went yard again to propel Loudoun Valley to another important district win, this time 5-2 over visiting Osbourn on Friday night.

Against Stonewall Jackson on Thursday, Miller hit a grand slam and Tretick smacked a solo shot to spur the Vikings to victory. With Osbourn in Purcellville the next evening, Tretick hit a second-inning grand slam and Miller homered in the sixth.

"We’ve been working hard on hitting, and it seems to be paying off," Loudoun Valley Coach Joe Spicer said. "I don’t know what we’re doing, but we’re going to keep doing it."

The victory keeps the Vikings (13-2, 8-2) tied for first-place with Battlefield in the ultra-competitive Cedar Run District. The Vikings visit the Bobcats on Tuesday with first place in the district at stake.

"We’re very pleased with where we are right now," Spicer said.

After Osbourn took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Tretick drilled the first pitch she saw in the second over the fence in right-center field, giving Loudoun Valley a 4-1 lead. In the sixth inning, Miller smacked her second offering to deep leftfield to put the Vikings ahead 5-2.

Tretick and Miller each has two home runs this season.
