In the girls' tennis singles final, Loudoun Valley's Kiersten Pappas dueled with Mills Godwin's Katie Blow for nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Pappas, who also runs cross-country, appeared to have endless energy. While Blow would sit down between changeovers, Pappas stayed on her feet, drinking water or chatting through the chain-link fence with her coach.

The match was a battle of forehands as both players worked from the baseline. Pappas won the first set, but Blow won the second and third for a 7-5, 6-4, 6-1 victory.
"She stepped it up in the third set," Pappas said. "I wasn't getting my balls deep enough."
