Central Region champion Deep Run scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning yesterday in Richmond, rallying to nip Northwest Region runner-up Loudoun Valley, 6-5, in the Virginia AAA softball quarterfinals.
The Vikings led 5-3 entering the final inning, but Deep Run's first four batters in of the seventh inning reached base. The game was played after being postponed Tuesday because of inclement weather; Loudoun Valley (19-7) drove back three hours from Richmond late Tuesday, then drove back to Richmond yesterday morning.

"I really just think we've been up and down the highway too many times," said Loudoun Valley Coach Joe Spicer, whose team also endured a five-hour bus ride last week to Halifax in the region semifinals. "At the end, we looked like a tired team at that point. We just weren't able to keep them off the bases and that was difference."
Loudoun Valley sophomore first baseman Shelby Wassman homered, and junior pitcher Caroline Williams slapped a two-run double in the sixth inning to put the Vikings ahead entering the seventh.
